10 Design Decisions

Now that you have created a set of designs with ink and overlay, it's time to see how you can develop them further.
Task 1
Grab a pen or pencil and work in your book. Using the '10 design decisions', draft posters quickly and with annotations. Work approximately A5 or A6 size.  Don't moan, you have to get used to drawing and planning. This is where most of your ideas will develop and therefore where most of the marks lie. 
Task 2
Use Photoshop (or any other method that is suitable) to create as many of these designs as possible. Playfulness, risk-taking, and skill are your keywords.

5 hours in class and  5 hours of independent study.
Deadline: End of lesson. Tuesday 5th of Nov.

Analysis - Gig posters

Home learning task - Due Wednesday 16th October

Complete an analysis of 4 posters.
Remember to listen to the music associated.
If you can find a way of including your handiwork in the pages, all the better.
Present beautifully in your sketchbook.

Reading and note-taking task 1

Objective

To give you an overview of the history of - and recent developments of - graphic communication in order to inform your written analysis work.

Task

Read Books Without Words

N.B. Don't be put off, use a dictionary and the web for help. You are entering the world of grown-up reading with big words and concepts — if you don't work at it, you won't get it. Use a dictionary.

Take notes and make drawings in your sketchbook. Get firmly into the habit of drawing whilst you are note-taking. Explain visually as well as with writing.

Collect 3 questions about the text for me or the group to answer.

Presentation

Presentation of your work is very important. Your pages should be things of beauty.
